Kraman Iron Works offers a full range of structural steel fabrication and erection services. We specialize in a variety of renovation projects from large infrastructure upgrades, to full gut renovation jobs, to building additions, as well as minor alteration projects.

MISCELLANEOUS STEEL

Kraman Iron Works provides a broad range of miscellaneous metal fabrication and erection services. With a focus on renovation work, we can offer anything from millwork / counter / vanity supports, to glass wall support steel and folding wall support steel systems.

STAIRS AND RAILINGS

Our extensive experience over the years with a variety of materials, paint applications, and finishing techniques allows Kraman Iron Works to take on an array of stair and rail projects from the most basic egress stair and rails to complicated feature stair and rail projects.

Kraman Iron Works has a fully staffed department of highly experienced estimators. The key to this business is meeting the budget requirements of our clients. We consistently do work for some of the best known general contractors in the Tri-State area. Kraman Iron Works has been a family owned business since 1913. The company was founded by Louis Kraman as a small blacksmith shop. Louis' son, Sidney Kraman, joined the business in the 1940s, expanding the company to offer fabrication and erection services all over New York City. Sidney's nephew, James "Jimmy" Fassler, and son, Richard "Dick" Kraman, joined the company in the 1960s and 1970s. Sid, Jimmy and Dick continued to expand the company, taking on larger structural jobs in addition to the miscellaneous steel work. Today, Kraman Iron Works continues to operate in the same office in the East Village where the company started over 100 years ago. It is owned and operated by Dick's son, Max Kraman. As he grew up, Max worked at the company over summer breaks from school, learning the business from the ground up. He joined the company full time after he graduated from George Washington University in 2006; taking on various roles and helping his father expand the company. Dick partially retired and moved to Montana in 2008, while Max ran the company on the ground, helping facilitate KIW's further expansion. Max fully took over ownership and operations when Dick retired in 2018. Max prides himself in working hard to maintain the high standards, values and work ethic set by his father, grandfather and great-grandfather before him.

Kraman Iron Works has been meeting deadlines for over 100 years. From its humble beginnings, a blacksmith shop in a cellar on the lower east side, Kraman Iron Works has grown to be one of the most formidable steel fabricators and erectors in New York City. We are dedicated to meeting our customers needs. Quality and meeting schedules are our priority.

Kraman Iron Works has strong customer relationships that go back three generations; maintaining a selective bid list for some of the most highly regarded general contractors in the NYC area. We take pride in our ability to provide comprehensive service from start to finish for a broad range of steel projects. Kraman has the experience and resources to partner with our customers to meet the needs of any project, whether it be a top-end corporate fit out project, major building infrastructure upgrade, educational renovation, or hospital modernization.

Kraman has substantial experience and success completing steel work in some of the most challenging environments and high profile buildings in a city with stringent insurance requirements, where only the best is expected.

Our greatest asset is our customers and the relationships and reputation we have built with them over the years. We have always believed in providing quality work with individualized attention to each project and not being a volume business. The vast majority of our work is with repeat customers, who take on demanding and difficult work for high-end owners and design teams.
